Nott claimed elsewhere that she hated seawater because as a kleptomaniac, she had been "the next one in line" to be killed by a goblin in the past. When she realized that Caleb knew what had happened to her for this reason, he almost left her in the sea. In "The Hollow Halfling" (2x53), after apologizing for her outburst, Nott suggested Caleb travel with her. She told him that because she was born a dangerous deviant, he was also less likely to suffer the same fate as her.
In "The Geek, the Man, and the Internal Time-Traveler" (2x57), Nott asked Caleb to do something that she didn't think was possible: stop her plans for murder, because she hated killing and wanted to stop.
When she suggested that they travel to the Scepter Forest to kill chromatic draconians, Nott implied that she also wanted to use the forest to get out of the empire, presumably because she was unhappy in her adopted family and suffered from a form of dysmorphia. She claimed that her family problem was a result of her goblin parentage and that she disliked halflings by extension. She said this with an unsettling and sinister feeling, saying that Veth had been "changing" herself and doing things to "diagnose" and "cure" her. She claimed she knew that Veth had hypnotized her friend Yeza and forced her to lead the goblin clan to Felderwin, and that she had done a similar thing to Nott. Nott didnt want to explain how she knew this until she had a reason to trust Caleb, and only said that she had stumbled across something weird which she wanted to communicate to Veth. She implied that Veth would be immune from being hypnotized or otherwise influenced unless she agreed to it. d2c66b5586
