Whereas prior releases of Windows supported per-file encryption using Encrypting File System, the Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Vista include BitLocker Drive Encryption, which can protect entire volumes, notably the operating system volume. However, BitLocker requires approximately a 1.5-gigabyte partition to be permanently not encrypted and to contain system files for Windows to boot. In normal circumstances, the only time this partition is accessed is when the computer is booting, or when there is a Windows update that changes files in this area, which is a legitimate reason to access this section of the drive. The area can be a potential security issue, because a hexadecimal editor (such as dskprobe.exe), or malicious software running with administrator and/or kernel level privileges would be able to write to this "Ghost Partition" and allow a piece of malicious software to compromise the system, or disable the encryption. BitLocker can work in conjunction with a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) cryptoprocessor (version 1.2) embedded in a computer's motherboard, or with a USB key.[78] However, as with other full disk encryption technologies, BitLocker is vulnerable to a cold boot attack, especially where TPM is used as a key protector without a boot PIN being required too.[79]

For instance my Peavey Tube 120 guitar amplifier has a USB out which other musical programs recognise as A USB microphone and allow me to record tracks.Obviously the technology exists to recognise notes from a microphone quite accurately without having the great expense of purchasing a Midi instrument. Can you advise me if these types of things are being considered/worked on? close to delivering to us end users?Personally I think Sibelius completely eclipses the competition and I am sure could do a far better job of including this option in both the "input devices" and "Flexi Time Input".If there is already a way of doing this in Sibelius please advise and accept my apologies for mentioning it. I was all of one minute or so and I had inputted 4 bars directly from the guitar via the USB amp out and then transposed quickly and sent to Sibelius. Edit>>>>It did the job so nicely (for 6 bars till it crapped out and again after a reboot, same scenario). I definitely won't be buying that for a dollar. I have tried it.....Unless you have a very simple monophonic melody line, I'd forget it. I have had no direct involvment with the application of the Sale of Goods Act. Every country has it's own version of that. The application of 8 specific acts was what I spent my last 10 years of employment at. Our particular version of the act you mentioned doesn't appear to hold anyone particularly liable for promises not delivered on products nor is that my intent. My question was simply directed at representatives of Sibelius and specifically whether this avenue is being pursued.I am however quite pleased that I did not spend the money for the full price of Audioscore ultimate if as you say, it can't be done anyway. Andy,is it safe to assume that you represent Neurotron and audioscore or Sibelius? Lawrence, my guitar tuner appears to accurately identify notes with 12 steps for each half tone. That is certainly accurate enough for what I would like to see.I'll go back to using the fretboard, keyboard and mouse (of course)which has been serving me well instead of trying to input notes via my very finely tuned and intonated guitars.When writing guitar lead parts, I generally have my guitar around my neck anyway, where I will work out a lead section while playing back the other accompanying instruments, which I also write for and play some. The notes don't slow me down much but getting the duration right takes a bit longer. I would imagine if the software existed, it would be the timing that would be difficult indeed as the cutoff point of each note would have to be determined. This would be tricky due to the nature of resonance and such mixed with dynamics and articulations.Can I be so forward to ask if a midi guitar would work any better in that regard? They appear to be incredibally expensive. I can see a keyboard more or less having a specific on and off point but using a hexaphonic pickup on a guitar as a midi instrument doesn't seem like it would be spot on.I believe that software can be created that can provide enough accuracy as to be useful although this will never happen if the word can't is at the forefront of the development. I am not a self proclaimed expert on such things however there are companies developing software that does at this stage in it's simplist form actually recognise brain waves. I believe that the day will come that will allow music to be created by thought alone and that I will live to see that day in my personal lifetime. Specific brain waves are already being used to control certain electrical devices, a simple form of which was displayed at the Canadian Vancouver olympics. We are not talking brains here however, We are talking about the recognising of certain pitches and durations accurately in a timely fashion. There is definitely no such thing as can't in that regard. Although I would be inclined to conceed defeat in my ability to convince you fine gentlemen that this is possible, I will not be convinced that it is not possible. I only wish the full capabilities of Audioscore Ultimate were part of a demo in a quick trial before you buy scenario. If as advertised, it can recognise 16 notes simultaneously instead of the two that is advertised in audioscore lite, it very likely will recognise one very very well.Does anyone have any experience with that using a guitar?Is it worth the price of admission?P.S. Like a piano keyboard, you need to be very precise about when you start and end notes. Any open strings need to be damped. And then the MIDI capture stuff has to all work.I have seen demoes where someone entered notes on a MIDI guitar and it worked great. I have also seen demoes where someone entered music via FlexiTime and it gave just what was desired. I have never actually seen either a live guitarist or a live pianist do that, and I have had quite a number of good pianists try it.It is fun to play the MIDI guitar and have it sound like a flute, but that is about all I have really done with it. It is at least a decent electric guitar on its own.I keep seeing blurbs for devices that capture audio and turn it into good notation, but I have not seen examples of it yet. It appears that a decent midi guitar starts at well over a thousand dollars (Ca) and can top $5000. They are a breed unto their own and definitely can have their uses in a number of professional music settings. It is not in the plan. I had thought that the start and stop timing would be an issue and I am pleased that I've been advised by yourself that this appears to be true. It is certainly not important enough to me to spend that kind of money on a midi guitar or the ultimate version of the audio program. Many thanks for the civil manner of your response as well.I do find it very odd that anyone would actually vote against the progression of the technology however. To each his own I suppose. I for one am very happy with no longer having to write scores with pen and paper and embrace any advances in technology that can take the (original) music out of my head and put it into notation.I will probably continue to mess around with the lite version of audioscore periodically to see if I can tweak it enough to get more than 6 bars at a time out of it, if and when I ever get bored.Thanks everyone for your opinions and responses. I suspect that considerable military resources are being aimed at extracting one conversation from a general babble, and we may eventually see spin-off from this. But we haven't yet.We've seen OCR for text develop from expensive Kurzweil machines to reliable programs given away with scanners. We've seen OCR for printed music progress from being a joke to being a useful tool in many circumstances (though it's still too often a toss-up whether scanning is more effecient than manual entering from scratch.) I won't pursue it any longer.As far as voting against, I was simply referring to the answers to my poll as shown above and in my attached screenshot of same:All the answers given were very informative and in the long run probably has saved me money. I have no problem entering notes in the usual manner. I simply thought, what if I could do this another, faster way? Entering notes via the fretboard works rather well also, although where you originally enter the note regarding which fret and string is not remembered on playback where it seems to pick it's own location for the note of the same tone. Minor detail as well. I am more than happy with Sibelius in every way and have been since version 5. I believe strongly that there is no better music composition software on the market. Sibelius continues to improve from version to version and I am quite sure it will continue to do so. I cannot see myself being anything but a lifelong customer. Again, thanks for the responses which have been more than helpful.If I read it properly, the answer is Yes it IS being pursued and it does have a ways to go which IS what I wanted to hear. Actual Sibelius representatives seem to want the technology to move forward and that is good enough for me. I think we can close this subject now. My question has been answered.
